Musically Miscallaneous

where no genre is off limits.

About

Well, hello. Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I’m Dana, a music writer, composer and pianist. I was born in Bahrain and moved to the UK three years ago to study at Durham University, where I recently graduated with a degree in Music and Business.

For the past few years, being a student shaped everything I did. Between writing my dissertation and juggling media and leadership roles across more societies than I can count, music was always at the centre. I’ve played everything from Chopin at classical piano recitals to keyboard and synth in a psychedelic rock band.

But now that I can’t make being a uni student my entire personality, it’s time to channel that energy into something new instead of spiraling into the postgrad slump.

That’s where Musically Miscellaneous comes in. This blog is for everything that doesn’t fit neatly into one box (just like my taste in music!) From album and concert reviews to artist interviews and opinion pieces on current trends, there’s something here for fans of classical, jazz, indie, rock, house, and more.

I’m especially interested in how music travels, how it’s heard in different places, and how it brings people together across genres and cultures. I write with a mixture of personal experiences and global perspectives, shaped by performing, researching, and overthinking just about every song I love.

I started this blog as a creative outlet and to keep on writing after graduation, but I see it growing into more. I’d love to develop Musically Miscellaneous into a podcast and post more regularly on social media.

Whether you’re a fellow music lover, an inquisitive listener, or simply passing through, I hope you find something here that resonates with you. Feel free to explore, share your thoughts, or get in touch with me, my DMs are open!
